Cryptocorynes are the Rolex watch of aquarium plants. They're the ones everybody likes to show off. And for good reason - for many years they have had a reputation of not being the easiest plants to grow or propogate. But, since the Tom Barr/Dupla fertilizer revolution they're snap now if you care for them properly which is really nothing more than reproducing the natural conditions where they're found: these are not stagnant waters and quite commonly not soft or acidic water either.
These are the documents I found on the Dutch National Herbarium in icky *.doc format; they are the only academic papers discussing these plants I can find and converted them to HTML with my software.
